Occasionally, there are reports in the news about careless parents locking babies in cars, threatening their lives; there are also reports of owners locking pets in cars, causing the pets to die. In the past two years, although there have been fewer and fewer reports of the above tragedies, we cannot ignore the huge safety risks brought about by accidentally locking children or pets in the car.
With the continuous upgrading of the NCAP new car evaluation system, the above safety risks are expected to be eliminated. Euro NCAP stipulates that from 2025, new cars must be equipped with an automatic CPD (Child Presence Detection) system to get extra points; the 2024 version of C-NCAP has officially listed CPD as a bonus item. This forces car companies to install CPD devices on new cars to get high scores in NCAP evaluations and maintain market competitiveness.
In the future, NCAP organizations in various countries will further require CPD systems to adopt direct measurement methods in order to get extra points for corresponding evaluation items, which will promote the evolution of cockpit technology.
